Which of these Top 10 Books on Teaching would you most like to read?


Thank you, James M. Lang, for a convenient Top 10 list posted in this week’s Chronicle.  Hard to disagree with this statement:

I firmly believe that if every teaching faculty member could carve out the time to read one or two great books on teaching and learning every year, we would collectively serve our students much better than we do already.

Many of us read Ken Bain’s book (#1) as part of Faculty Center reading groups a few years ago, and How Learning Works (#3) was the text for a Faculty Center reading group this spring. What looks good to you for some fall reading group selections?

Create a new account

  1. Go to  www.magnapubs.com/newsletters
  2. Click orange ‘Log in’ button at top-right side of page
  3. Click ‘Create an Account’ where it says “Don’t have an account?” under the log in boxes in the middle of page
  4. Complete all fields under “Required Information” and then click the blue “Create Account” button
  5. You will receive an e-mail at the e-mail address you entered while creating your account
  6. Open the email used to register your account and find the new e-mail sent to you from Magna
  7. Click the link in that e-mail to complete your registration
  8. Enter your email or username and password (case sensitive) and select ‘Login’
  9. Select the “Group Subscriptions” tab at the top of the page
  10. In the red box, enter the Authorization Code: CSU1659  (case sensitive)
  11. Select Activate to access the subscription

Please note: entering the Authorization Code is done only once. Hereafter, you will access the subscription by logging in using your email address and password. Please do not share the Authorization Code with anyone outside our campus community.
